Forty-three years of restoration teach you more than just the old masters' techniques — they give you the urge to put something of your own on the table too. Not out of immodesty, but because I don't see wood as raw material, but as a companion: every board has its own grain, colour, and nature.

Marquetry — a picture, made of wood
Marquetry is a painting that needs no brush, only a chisel and patience: I piece the picture together from veneers of different wood species, one piece at a time.
The colours don't come from paint, but from the wood itself — the darkness of walnut, the lightness of maple, the play of the grain. A well-made marquetry never fades and never goes out of fashion.
Carving — coats of arms, memorials
I make carved coats of arms, memorial plaques and memorials for settlements, churches, institutions and families. A coat of arms is not an ornament — it is the face of a community, in wood. That is why for me, carving too begins with design — what will go on to proclaim a name, a village, a story for decades must first be born on paper.

I restore carriages, and I also make cradles and coffins — you can read about these in detail here. If you want a piece that isn't available in a shop — because it can't be — we design it together, and I build it.
