This is the question I'm asked most often — and after forty-three years, my answer is almost always the same: yes. I restore antique furniture, provide valuations, and make new furniture.

Before anyone throws it out
There stands the wardrobe where your grandparents once kept their Sunday best. The table wobbles, the veneer is flaking, the wood in the drawer is worm-eaten — and someone in the family has already said its place is at the bulk-waste collection. Don't believe them.
Old furniture isn't old because it's worn out — it's old because it has survived a hundred years, and in good hands it can survive a hundred more. I make my living by giving pieces like this back to the family.

Inherited furniture in poor condition
Wobbly, falling apart, worm-eaten, water-stained pieces. Most of these can be saved, even when at first glance they look hopeless.
Damaged surface, missing ornamentation
Lifted veneer, broken-off carving, worn surface. I fill in the missing parts with matched timber, by hand.

I also provide valuations. Before you sell, give away or throw out a piece, it's worth knowing what you're holding.
